While recently scrolling through one of my favorite book blogs ( Entertainment Weekly’s Shelf Life http://shelf-life.ew.com), I came across a post stating that actress Hilary Duff will be releasing a new YA book series in October. From what I’ve read so far about the book, the first title in the series, Elixir, tells the story of Clea Rayner and her journey to find out the truth behind her father’s mysterious disappearance. Strange things happen to Clea, including a curse with cameras. When Clea takes pictures, photos she hasn’t taken continually show up and she feels compelled to search out the locations where they were shot. When she does this she encounters dire situations that she must solve. A photo shows up after her father’s disappearance and now Clea feels that this will help her come to some conclusions about why her father is missing (sounds like a love story is also thrown into the mix).
What do you think? Will the Disney Channel actress from Lizzie Maguire bring us a hit novel? Post your comments below!
In the meantime, I recommend checking out a different mystery that involves a series of tapes left behind by a girl named Hannah. Just two weeks after her tragic suicide, Clay Jensen is the first person to receive the tapes that Hannah recorded. The first tapes include the message: “I hope you’re ready, because I’m about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended. And if you’re listening to these tapes, you’re one of the reasons why”.
To find out more come to the library and check out Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

I’m pumped to read this book!
